Who we are

We build what other people’s operations depend on

RKB Engineering (Pty) Ltd is a South African construction and engineering company. We deliver turnkey infrastructure from offices in Durban and Johannesburg, for refineries, pipelines, network operators, utilities and municipalities.

  • Eight disciplines, one contract. Fewer interfaces, fewer inductions, fewer places for accountability to slip.
  • Proven on live sites. Refineries, pipelines, live mobile networks and utilities.
  • Our own teams and fleet. 39 specialist teams and an owned Vermeer drilling fleet.

What we deliver

Eight disciplines. One induction.

Every extra contractor on a live site means another induction, another safety file, another set of permits to coordinate and another interface where things go wrong. We collapse that into one.

Civil works

Earthworks, foundations, plinths, access roads, hardstands and drainage.

Construction & tankage

Tank construction, maintenance, refurbishment, corrosion protection and scaffolding.

Plumbing

Water reticulation, drainage and plumbing installations, built to code.

Electrical

Installation, reticulation, backup power, earthing and lightning protection.

Security & CCTV

CCTV, perimeter security and access control, from site survey to maintenance.

Telecoms

Lattice towers and monopoles, RF and microwave, 5G and data centres.

Fibre networks

FTTH, FTTB and long-haul builds: trenching, aerial, splicing and OTDR testing.

Drilling

Horizontal directional drilling, borehole and exploration drilling.

Capability · civil engineering

Nobody notices the ground under a tank. Until it moves.

Tanks, plinths, pipe racks and loading bays all rest on work that disappears the moment it is finished. Rush it, and the problem surfaces years later as settlement, cracking or standing water. So we test the parts nobody will ever see.

  • Setting out verified against approved drawings
  • Reinforcement, levels and embedded items inspected before any concrete is placed
  • Concrete strength verification, earthworks and compaction testing
  • Civil completion inspections before handover

Capability · drilling

Under the road, not through it

Every new cable, duct or pipe that has to cross a road, a rail line or a river usually means a trench, a closure and a delay. Horizontal directional drilling steers a bore underneath instead, so the road stays open and the trains keep moving.

We own our drilling fleet rather than hiring it, which is why our programmes don’t move when somebody else’s rig is unavailable.

Borehole drilling

Siting, drilling, casing, yield testing and pump equipping for an independent water supply.

Exploration & geotechnical

Diamond core, reverse circulation and rotary air blast drilling, to understand the ground before anything is built on it.

Capability · security

A perimeter is only as strong as its blind spots

Cameras are easy to buy. A system that sees what matters is not. We deliver CCTV and access control as one turnkey system, designed around your security objectives, lighting, network and power, then configured, commissioned and maintained.

Perimeter & thermal

Fixed, PTZ, long-range, infrared and thermal cameras planned to close blind spots along the fence line.

Vehicles & plates

Vehicle monitoring and licence-plate recognition at access points.

Integrated, not bolted on

CCTV tied into access control, intrusion detection, gate automation and intercoms.

Cyber-secure by design

Role-based access, default credentials removed, managed firmware, aligned to your IT policy.

Safety & compliance

Boring, on purpose

On a site storing chemicals, gases or petroleum products, the most exciting thing a contractor can do is something unexpected. So we aim to be completely predictable: in how we plan, how we brief and how we close out.

  • Zero injuries is the target. Fully compliant with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (No. 85 of 1993).
  • If it can’t be done safely, it doesn’t start. Company policy, not a poster.
  • Qualified people own it. A Health & Safety Manager, backed by an external SHE consultancy.
  • Documented quality. Inspection and test plans, non-conformance reporting and a quality dossier at handover.
